Ferrari certified to the new ISO 9001
DNV GL has certified Ferrari to ISO 9001:2015, making Ferrari one of the very first companies to be certified to the new version of the quality management system standard.
Just a few days after the release of this standard, the Italian car company from Maranello is among the first organizations in Italy and worldwide to be certified to it by the international certification body DNV GL. In the new standard published on23 September 2015, the quality concept has evolved from compliance to sustainability.
Nicola Privato, Regional Manager of DNV GL – Business Assurance, says “I’m very proud to have been able to follow Ferrari in the process towards recertification. At Maranello, they have been frontrunners and able to obtain the certification just a few days after ISO’s publication of the new standard and its specific requirements.”
The house of the ‘Prancing Horse’ has also been a frontrunner regarding another new element in the standard related to risk-based thinking, a systematic proactive and preventive approach to risk management that helps companies identify possible future opportunities.
Risk-based certification since 1996
DNV GL delivered the first ISO 9001 quality management certification to Ferrari in 1996. Since then, DNV GL has based the annual audit work on the Risk Based Certification™ methodology which, in addition to the standard compliance verification, takes into consideration the specific risks in every single company.
This approach has allowed Ferrari to work in advance of regulatory requirements and obtain the new certification basically at the same time as the standard is released.
