2008 marks 20 years of shipbuilding for Austal Ships – one of the world leaders in the design and construction of high speed aluminium vessels. Vessels include high speed passenger and vehicle-passenger ferries, cruise vessels and a range of patrol, fast freight and offshore support vessels.

To help celebrate this milestone DNV Business Director of Passenger Ships and Senior Vice President, Karl Morten Wiklund, presented the company’s founding director and current Executive Chairman, John Rothwell, with a plaque congratulating the management and staff of Austal.
Austal Ships has grown from a small factory with a staff of 40 in 1988 to a workforce of more than 2500 employed in yards located in Western Australia, Tasmania and Mobile (USA). In the 20 years they have delivered more than 200 vessels to 36 countries.
