London, UK: DNV is strengthening its UK focus on cleaner energies by appointing Mark Young as head of its Cleaner Energy Department. His broad experience in both the US and European market is of great value for risk management services and technical support to the rapidly growing UK wind industry.

Mark Young has more than 13 years of engineering experience, 12 of which have been dedicated to wind energy. Previously, working from DNV’s Seattle office in the US, he held global responsibility for accredited testing and wind turbine technical advisory services to the North American markets. DNV is one of the leading providers of turbine testing services for the wind industry, including power performance, loads, noise emissions, and power quality testing.
The wind industry is becoming mainstream, but there are still many technical, environmental and financial challenges that investors, manufacturers and developers need to understand thoroughly in order for their businesses to be successful.
“The UK is the world leader of offshore wind in terms of installed capacity and has many interesting opportunities and challenges that fit perfectly with DNV’s wind energy, offshore structure and maritime vessel engineering experience,” says Mark Young.
“I look forward to expanding the wind advisory services provided by the London office and working in the UK and European markets,” he states.
Mark Young is replacing Donald Brown, who is moving to a business development and customer service management position within DNV’s Cleaner Energy operations in the UK.
