
DNV has signed an agreement with the Swedish Transmission Research Institute (STRI) in an effort to meet the increasing market demand for advanced solutions for power transmission in the offshore sector.

Houston: DNV is appointed as the Certified Verification Agent (CVA) for the Cape Wind Project, the first offshore wind farm to be built in the US. The role of DNV as CVA is to conduct third-party design reviews, inspections and other verification activities.
Houston: The U.S. Coast Guard has extended DNV’s statutory authorizations under the USCG Alternate Compliance Program to include Passenger Ship Safety Certificates.

Oslo: The forensic examination of the Deepwater Horizon blowout preventer (BOP) is now concluded, and DNV has submitted its report to the U.S. Bureau of Ocean Energy Management, Regulation and Enforcement (BOEMRE), who today made the report publically available.

The US Coast Guard issues regulations to ensure maritime safety. USCG Commandant Bob Papp is interviewed in DNV’s corporate magazine Forum: “To be sure, we have prescriptive regulations, such as many of the lifesaving and fire protection regulations, but we are moving more towards performance based regulations,” he says.

London: By introducing a new solution for LNG-fuelled ships, DNV and MAN Diesel & Turbo are taking the Quantum concept ship one stroke further. Both the machinery and the hull design and arrangement have been improved.

Based on DNV’s extensive experience in LNG, the company has prepared a detailed design and construction guidance for offshore gas terminals, scheduled to be released shortly.

DNV will shortly issue the first ISDS (Integrated Software Dependent Systems) class certificate to Dolphin Drilling. Several major rig owners are now requesting the ISDS notation on newbuilds. DNV is working to prepare yards and suppliers worldwide to deliver to the ISDS requirements.

DNV and key industry players are today releasing a report on the design of offshore monopile wind turbine structures.
Oslo: NTNU rector Torbjørn Digernes and the CEO of DNV (Det Norske Veritas) Henrik O. Madsen met yesterday to kick off an exciting research and history book project related to DNV’s 150th anniversary in 2014. DNV is contributing NOK 7 million to the project, which will among other things finance several doctoral scholarships.

DNV Petroleum Services launched its testing service on Jan. 1, 1981. The company has tested 1.4 million fuel samples since then.
Oslo: Risk management studies carried out by DNV will be crucial to the safety and public acceptance of the CO2 logistics hub being developed through the Rotterdam Climate Initiative.
